QA Automation Engineer

What You'll Do Here

● Create, support, and enhance automated test coverage for the Kitchen Display System (KDS) platform.

● Develop and run automated UI, API, regression, and smoke testing.

● Develop scalable and sustainable automation solutions by following established framework patterns and industry best practices.

● Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and QA engineers to maintain quality across the entire software development lifecycle.

● Analyze defects, diagnose test failures, and surface quality risks early during development.

● Support and optimize automated test execution as part of CI/CD pipelines.

● Take part in sprint planning, conversations around test strategy, and release validation efforts.

● Utilize AI-assisted tools and workflows to strengthen test design, automation development, code reviews, troubleshooting, and engineering productivity.

● Help drive ongoing improvements to quality engineering standards, automation methodologies, and testing processes.

Experience We're Looking For

● 4+ years of practical experience in QA Automation, SDET, or Quality Engineering.

● Strong Java programming abilities and solid knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts.

● Hands-on experience creating and maintaining UI automation frameworks with Appium, Selenium, Playwright, or related technologies.

● Proven experience developing and implementing scalable automated testing solutions.

● Experience validating REST APIs and handling JSON payloads.

● Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated test runs.

● Experience using Maven, Git, and contemporary software development workflows.

● Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis capabilities.

● Ability to rapidly learn and contribute within large, established codebases.

● Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging, test generation, documentation, or code review.

● Strong communication and teamwork skills.

● Experience operating within Agile/Scrum environments.

Bonus Experience

● Background working with restaurant technology, POS systems, Kitchen Display Systems (KDS), or similar transactional business applications.

● Experience using Kotlin.

● Experience testing desktop applications or Electron-based platforms.

● Familiarity with Azure DevOps or comparable CI/CD platforms.

● Knowledge of Docker and containerized testing environments.

● Experience working with distributed test execution environments.

● Experience performing performance, reliability, or latency-sensitive testing.

● Familiarity with modern AI-assisted engineering workflows and agentic development tools.
