Position Summary

The Director of Information Technology is responsible for the strategy, security, operations, and day-to-day management of a global technology environment. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this individual serves as the senior technology leader, overseeing infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, identity management, end-user computing, vendor relationships, business continuity, and regulatory technology.

This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports. Leadership is exercised through technical ownership, cross-functional influence, and management of external vendors and managed service providers rather than through people management.

This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role that balances strategic planning with direct technical execution. The successful candidate will provide white-glove support to investment professionals, executives, and operational teams across multiple international offices. The role partners with compliance, finance, investor relations, legal, and external managed service providers to enable business objectives while maintaining strong security and regulatory compliance.

Primary Responsibilities

Technology Leadership

1. Own the IT strategy end to end and act as the primary technology advisor to executive leadership.
2. Drive continuous improvement across infrastructure, cybersecurity, automation, AI enablement, and operational efficiency.
3. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve productivity, security, and scalability.
4. Establish IT policies, standards, and documentation.
5. Manage third-party vendor relationships, including selection, contract negotiation, and budget oversight.

Infrastructure & Enterprise Technology

1. Own the global technology infrastructure.
2. Manage, monitor, and update the end-user experience using Microsoft, Google, Cisco, Fortinet, and Intune products, as well as SaaS products and business applications.
3. Ensure systems remain highly available, secure, and appropriately documented.

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

1. Lead the comprehensive cybersecurity program.
2. Evaluate, manage, and monitor endpoint protection, email security, DLP, vulnerability management, penetration testing, security awareness training, and security monitoring capabilities.
3. Partner with external security providers and internal leadership to strengthen the security posture.

Regulatory & Compliance Technology

1. Support regulatory obligations in partnership with the Chief Compliance Officer.
2. Monitor SEC requirements, archiving, communications surveillance, disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and vendor risk assessments.
3. Support international privacy and data governance requirements across global offices.

End User Computing & Executive Support

1. Deliver exceptional technology support to employees across all locations.
2. Provide executive-level technical support, hardware and software procurement, provisioning, and troubleshooting.
3. Maintain a highly responsive, service-oriented approach emphasizing professionalism, discretion, and responsiveness.

AI Platform & Automation

1. Help develop Riverwood's internal AI platform by building new modules and capabilities that improve productivity and automate business processes. Provide ongoing support to users, gather feedback, troubleshoot issues, and continuously enhance the platform to meet the firm's evolving needs.

Qualifications

Required

1. 10+ years of progressive IT experience, including leadership responsibility.
2. Experience managing enterprise Microsoft 365 environments, including Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, and Conditional Access.
3. Strong knowledge of enterprise networking, firewalls, endpoint management, and cloud infrastructure.
4. Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, Zero Trust architecture, identity management, and endpoint protection.
5. Experience managing managed service providers and technology vendors.
6. Ability to support executive leadership in a high-touch, service-oriented environment.
7. Experience supporting geographically distributed organizations.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
9. Strong project management and organizational abilities.
10. Ability to prioritize multiple initiatives while maintaining exceptional customer service.

Preferred

1. Experience in private equity, venture capital, investment management, hedge funds, or financial services.
2. Experience supporting SEC-regulated organizations.
3. Familiarity with Drawbridge, LeapXpert, Smarsh, Theta Lake, ThreatLocker, Druva, Cyberhaven, Abnormal AI, and similar enterprise platforms.
4. Experience supporting international offices.
5. Knowledge of Snowflake administration and cloud data platforms.
6. Security certifications such as CISSP, Security+, Microsoft Security, Azure Administrator, or equivalent.
